The Student Parent Support Navigator serves as a dedicated resource and advocate for student parents at Western Technical College. This position works within the Equity, Inclusion, & Community Engagement (EICE) department to provide individualized support, assess and refer student parents to campus and community resources, build and strengthen community partnerships, and implement programming that enhances the academic success, well-being, and sense of belonging for students with children.


This limited term position with an end date of June 30, 2026 is also a hybrid eligible position that would allow for 1-2 days a week working from home after the training period.



Essential Functions
1. Maintain and uphold the College values of Learning, Excellence, Accountability, Diversity, Student Success, Teamwork, Integrity, and Respect. Regular attendance is required.
2. Perform office function's which may include, but are not limited to: respond to internal/external customers and staff; create and modify documents, records, and reports using College standard software; maintain hard copy and/or electronic filing system; monitor inventory and budget information; schedule, coordinate, and prepare materials for meetings and/or appointments.
3. Complete all required College training and responsible for maintaining the skills necessary to complete the essential functions of the position as defined by the department.
4. Student Success is the cornerstone of Western's culture and the college may assign employees as needed to other areas or additional duties to foster this success.
5. Student Support & Resource Navigation - Supporting Action/Task May Include:

• Facilitate outreach and support for student parents, assessing their needs and offering personalized guidance to balance college and parenting/ caretaking.
• Co-create individualized plans with student parents, leveraging campus and community resources to address their unique challenges and goals
• Research current trends and best practices related to student parents and social issues
• Work interdependently with other campus departments assigned to supporting students holistically (i.e. College Advising, Case Management, Basic Needs Center, etc.)
• Stay up to date on community resources for families including childcare, housing, healthcare, and food security programs6. Programming, Partnerships, & Advocacy - Supporting Action/Task May Include:
  
• Plan and implement engagement initiatives such as Family Bingo Night, Parents and Pastries, and the Welcome Back Bash
• Develop, collaborate, and deliver student workshops on relevant topics including time management, financial literacy, and parenting strategies
• Promote programs and services
• Create opportunities for peer support networks among student parents
• Build and maintain partnerships with local organizations serving families
• Collaborate with campus departments to develop family-friendly initiatives
• Assess participation, satisfaction, and outcomes of initiatives and advocate for institutional changes based on results and feedback.
  Qualifications
  Minimum Qualifications:
  
• Associate's degree in Psychology, Communication, Sociology, Social Justice, Education, Social Work or related field OR
• Education in related field combined with appropriate occupational experience totaling 2 years OR
• Related occupational experience totaling 2 years

  Starting annual/hourly salary range based on education and experience: $21.95 $27.61
