Job Description:
A full-time academic staff position is available at the Pablo
Center. The working and official title for this assignment is
Technical Director. This position will serve as event production
coordinator for all Pablo Center events (producing agent) and will
facilitate the use of the facility as a presenting venue for
community partner events and rentals (presenting agent). This
position must work closely with faculty and staff from University
academic departments and administrative units as well as the
community to ensure quality customer service. This position will
have responsibility for the day-to-day management of all aspects of
event production at the Pablo Center - evening, night, weekend, and
holiday work hours will be a necessity. This position also mentors,
instructs, and monitors the performance of full-time, part-time and
student employees including the stage crew assigned to events
(event setup, event monitoring of lighting, sound, video, event
strike and all event production aspects of events). This position
reports to the Director of Production and Operations of the Pablo
Center, also a University employee. DUTIES: Maintain a long-range
production services plan for the Pablo CenterAssist in the
mentoring and instruction of the full-time, part-time and student
employees including the event production crew, ushers and building
managers assigned to eventsManage the technical event
production-related activities for all internal and external
eventsOversee the pre and post-event management setups, strikes and
clean-ups for all eventsAssist in the preparation and
administration of production budgets to include capital equipment
and maintenanceAssist in the coordination and implementation of
Pablo Center eventsResponsibilities:Supervise the operational and
event related activities of the Pablo Center training program
including professional lighting, sound, and projection
techniquesRecruit, hire, mentor, instruct, schedule, and evaluate
full-time, part-time and student employees who work for Pablo
Center as they perform the daily execution of event production and
building event management functions including: lighting, sound,
video, staging, rigging and other specific technical needs for
internal and external clients to fulfill contractual
obligationsDevelop CAD, WYSIWIG, and other soft-based design
formats for eventsMaintain an inventory of all Pablo Center
production equipmentProvide comprehensive oversight of the Pablo
Center event Production Services, including: Personnel
supervisionCompliance with all Pablo/University/UW
System/state/national guidelines, rules and regulationsGeneral
maintenance and upkeep of lighting, sound, video, staging, rigging
and other production equipmentAssist with the promotion and
