Job Title: Executive Director
Reporting to: Board of Directors
Status: Full-time; ExemptOrganizational Overview: United Way of the
Greater Chippewa Valley includes both Chippewa and Eau Claire
counties in Wisconsin. Eau Claire, with a metro area of 163,000, is
home to the 11,000 students at the University of Wisconsin - Eau
Claire along with 6,000 students at Chippewa Valley Technical
College. Strong schools, low crime rate, and a reasonable cost of
living may be expected. The city also serves as the retail center
for west central Wisconsin and the major metro area of

steward.Key Duties and Responsibilities: -
The major responsibilities of this position include, but are not
limited to: -
- Community Impact: The Executive Director is responsible for the
overall impact of the United Way of the Greater Chippewa Valley on
the community, with emphasis on increasing capacity. You will work
closely with the Board to craft and adapt a strategy to achieve
this increased impact, including raising funds to support it. You
will establish and build relationships with community leaders,
including those representing the highest levels of the business,
government, and non-profit sectors.

- Resource Development: You will be charged with driving key
results in fundraising. This includes identifying, cultivating, and
soliciting prospective donors and key leaders of prospective new
corporate partners; maintain donor and key leaders relationships;
leveraging personal and professional contacts and relationships
into fundraising opportunities; and promoting a culture of
fundraising in the organization, at both the staff and board
levels.

- Strategic Management: You will serve as the principal resource
to the Board of Directors and its committees and give strong
direction in policy formulation and interpretation. You will also
partner with the Board of Directors and United Way staff to craft
organizational goals and develop strategies to ensure they are
achieved. Duties also include ensuring coordination of all United
Way activities and providing strategic direction in the areas of
community impact, resource development, and staff alignment.

- Organization Management: You will be accountable for building
and leading high-performing teams, ensuring they are aligned and
collaborating to achieve organizational results. You will maintain
accountability for the operational and fiscal integrity of the
organization within policies set by the Board of Directors. You
will also assess our organizational capacity to implement
strategies and identify gaps in systems and staffing; directly
supervise staff and establish individual goals; work with the
Accountant and Treasurer to manage organizational spending, monitor
budget compliance, and mitigate financial risks; and ensure that
the United Way of the Greater Chippewa Valley's goals of
inclusiveness and diversity among staff and volunteers are met.Job
Requirements:
- A bachelor's degree in business administration (management,
nonprofit management or marketing) or social work is
preferred.
- A minimum of five to 10 years of experience:
- Working in the nonprofit sector (United Way experience is
desirable) and interacting with volunteers and diverse boards.
Alternatively, extensive experience in the leadership and
management of organizations of comparable size and mission.
- Demonstrating a track record of promoting diversity and an
ability to build collaboration with the community at large.
- Working in or across multiple sectors, including nonprofit,
public, and corporate environments.
- Developing partnerships, building teams, and managing
conflict.
- Fundraising and increasing philanthropic support.
- Willingness to work evenings and the occasional weekend.
- Valid driver's license with a good driving record.Desired
