Comprehensive health care is provided through primary care, tertiary care and long-term care in areas of medicine, surgery, psychiatry, physical medicine and rehabilitation, neurology, oncology, dentistry, geriatrics and extended care. Location: 1 Veterans Drive Minneapolis, MN 55417 POSITION OVERVIEW (duties include but are not limited to) Physician shall be responsible for providing Hematology/Oncology care, including, but not limited to: Diagnosis, evaluation, and management of various disease conditions related to Hematological and Oncological diseases or coagulopathies. Performance of clinical procedures such as: Bone Marrow Biopsies with microscopic evaluation, Prescription of chemotherapy and other cancer agents, and other duties as assigned, within the latest standards of evidence-based practice. Provide consultative services at the patient's bedside if the patient is not ambulatory and, in the clinic, setting if the patient is able to report to the outpatient clinic. Be on-call to evaluate and treat Hematologist/Oncologist consults, clinic, and chemotherapy patients. Extensive inpatient and outpatient teaching of medical students and medical residents required. Provide discharge education and follow up instructions that are coordinated with the next care setting for all Hematology/Oncology clinical patients. Participate in continuous quality improvement activities and meetings with committee participation as required by the VAMC Chief of Service, Chief of Staff, or designee. QUALIFICATIONS Must be Board Certified OR Board Eligible by the American Board of Internal Medicine (ABIM). Must have current license to practice medicine in any state, Territory, or Commonwealth of the United States or the District of Columbia. Must have current certification in Basic Life Support (BLS) as certified by the American Heart Association (AHA). POP: 6-months contract with a 6-month option Full-time clinic hours with rotational call.
